LOH E QURANI (لوحقرانى) : It refers to a group of mysterious Arabic letters that appear at the beginning of certain chapters (Surahs) in the Quran. These are also called ''Huruf-e-Muqatta'at'' (disjointed or abbreviated letters). 

Examples:

  • Alif Lam meem (الم) : Surah Al-Baqarah 
  • Yaseen (يس) :  Surah-Yasin
  • kaaf Ha Ya 'Ayn Saad (كحيعص) : Surah Maryam

Meaning and purpose : 

The exact meaning of these letters is known only to Allah. Scholars and Islamic historians have discussed them for centuries, but there is no consensus on their exact purpose or meaning.

However some interpretations include:

Divine secrets: A sign that the Quran contains knowledge beyond human understanding.

Attention Grabbers: Used to attract attention and emphasize the divine nature of the message.
